Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirming the revision of the Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, by his decree, put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of May 14, 2021 "On the Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine", and also approved the updated version of the said Strategy.

The corresponding decree No. 447/2021, together with the decision of the NSDC and the text of the Strategy, was published on the website of the head of state on Thursday.

The NSDC decision notes that the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center must develop and submit to the NSDC a plan for the implementation of the Strategy within two months, and the central authorities, together with the Security Service of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service, must ensure the implementation of this plan after its approval.

Presidential Decree No. 447/2021, which invalidates Article 2 of Presidential Decree No. 96 of March 15, 2016 "On the Decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of January 27, 2016" On the Cybersecurity Strategy of Ukraine ", invalidating the previous version of the Strategy, enters in force from the date of its publication.

According to the decree, the secretary of the Council Alexey Danilov is responsible for the implementation of the NSDC decision.

The updated version of the Strategy contains a list of challenges and threats that Ukraine faces in the field of cybersecurity, proposes the foundations for the development of a national system of protection against cyberthreats, determines the main priorities and strategic goals of ensuring the cybersecurity of Ukraine, as well as the directions of foreign policy activities and strategic tasks facing the state in the specified area.
